The app contains an interactive 3D globe on which lots of different objects are provided, that belong to the regions or countries on it. The user has the opinion either to zoom in and explore the globe intuitionally by "flying" over it and clicking on elements, or to choose a special region, country or object from a list and be led there automatically. By picking out out an element, the user gets background-information about and can take a look at a photograph of it.
Through its very affectionately and detailed designed elements, the app invites to explore the globe in an interactive and exciting way. It is a very suitable alternative to the conventional atlas in form of a book. Fascinating for children as well as adults!

The app is suitable for all ages as it allows younger children to handle it intuitional by just watching and listening, while older children can read the information texts and use the app strategically by searching a special region, country or feature to comply with the app's learning target to know more about our planet in relation to culture, nature and different backgrounds. So using the app is nteresting for all school types (preschool/primary/secondary) specially in connection with the subjects Geography, Languages, Science and Arts. There are neither games to play nor something to score, so that the learner has indeed not the opportunity to create something actively; nevertheless all his sensory perceptions (visual, auditive, tactile) are activated when he explores the app.

The app is not purpose-made for people with special needs but through its user friendliness in form of easy intuitional navigation and auditory features, it can be applied very useful and self-contained by people with special needs.

The app is not really convenient to acquire (iTunes Store: 4,49 €) but it is worth it's salt. Title, logo and description are designed very appealing as well in the iTunes Store as on the Homepage. However, the most eye-catching thing about the app is its complex, high-resolving design which accentuates the assets of the Retina display. The level of difficulty is appropriate to every child because it can decide autonomous, which features of the app they want to use, respectively if they just want to use the app without a particular destination or if their intention is to find something special with a tactic. Furthermore, the "World Atlas" is based on a book by geographer and BBC TV presenter Nicholas Crane, what makes the app very attractive in regard to its reliability.
The World Atlas is not adressed especial to girls or boys. That means, the design as well as the contents are gender-neutral.
There is no introduction in the beginning of the app but you can watch very interesting tutorials about it and it's functions by the inventor himself on the homepage. Furthermore it is not very important to know how the app works before using it, because it aims at trying intuitively without the possibility to make any mistakes. So you do not have to safe any levels; therefore you can choose and safe your favorite regions, countries or features.
